Objective

The student is familiar with the key concepts that describe the functional capacity of the older people. The student can identify factors that may lead to a decline in functional capacity and need to be considered throughout the life course. The student can name common diseases and syndromes that become more prevalent with aging, which can be prevented and for which rehabilitation support can be provided. The student is aware of the national recommendations for maintaining health and functional capacity and can guide the older individuals in taking care of their health and functional capacity. The student delves into activities that support functional capacity and rehabilitation. The student is knowledgeable about the methods used in guidance and supporting functional capacity. The student can support and motivate the older individuals according to individual goals and resources. The student understands the connection between preventive and functional capacity-supporting activities and goals of sustainable development.

The student can name basic concepts in the field and can name several factors that promote health and functioning in old age. The student knows the main health promotion guidelines targeted for older people and is able to plan evidence-based and individualized health promotion. The student takes actively part in organizing health promotion event and actively promotes health and functioning of older people.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can name basic concepts in the field and can name several factors that promote health and functioning in old age. The student justifies the actions using new evidence-based knowledge. The student knows the main health promotion guidelines targeted for older people and is able to plan evidence-based and individualized health promotion. The student takes actively part in organizing health promotion event and actively promotes health and functioning of older people. The student shows positive attitude and responsibility.
