Objective

Students will be able to differentiate between various automation systems and identify the components used in them. They will understand how automation systems work. Students will be knowledgeable of the structure, function and connections of relays and PLC drivers and the more common types of sensors and actuators. They will learn the idea behind the logic needed in automation technology.

Exam will be arranged at second last contact lesson. One exam retake will be available after the course.

Control and regulation, automation control systems, sensors, actuators, relay circuits, programmable logics, control system components. The most common connections of sensors and actuators to programmable logics. Possibly visit(s) in the laboratory. The course introduces various automation control systems via simulation environment
