Objective

Competence in the construction process
The student knows the principles of the standards concerning structural design

Competence in the structural engineering
The student understands framed systems, how they work and the criteria for choosing an appropriate framed system for a building. They learn about the duties of structural designers and how to determine the basic loads of structures.

- Framed systems
- Requirements set for building frames
- Bracing frames
- Criteria for choosing an appropriate frame
- Loads on structures and load combinations
- Making calculations for structural design

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to solve assignments related to the basics, which are similar to the assignments dealt with during the course.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In addition to the above-mentioned, the student is able to use the basics included in the course and to apply them in different assignments, and to give reasons for their solutions.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the above-mentioned, the student has a comprehensive understanding of the things included in the course. They are able to choose the right methods to problems related to the topicis dealt with during the course and give reasons for their solutions in a logical way.
