Objective

The student
-is independently able to plan, implement, and evaluate the screening of a school aged child and student growth, development, and health in cooperation with the client according principles of public health nurse work.
-is able to support the school aged child and the student and families for the health promoting choices.
-is able to support the relationship of spouses, parenting and family life of the clients at school and student health care.
-identifies the health challenges of school-aged, students and their families and guides them.
-is able to work in a multidisciplinary way and is able to evaluate the need for special support and follow-up treatment.
-is able to promote a safe school community and environment.

Practical training in school or student health services.

Theoretical studies concerning school health care and student health care.

Pass
The student
-shows the possession of basic knowledge in different areas in public health nursing and applies them extensively in public health nursing of school and student health care.
-is able to make decisions independently in different situation in public health nursing.
-is able to make health examinations and provide counseling independently in school and student health care.
-is able to counsel the client on vaccines that the client needs, and is able to vaccinate safely.
-operates in a client-oriented, responsible, and safe manner in public health nursing in school and student health care.
-is able to listen, counsel, and guide the client and his/her family appropriately in public health nursing.
-works safely and according to the principles of public health nursing ethics in public health nursing.
-recognizes the special needs of the school aged child, student, and family for support and is able to guide appropriately for the follow-up treatments.
-works as a public health nurse safely and according to the ethical work principles in public health nursing.
-identifies the special support needs of school-age children, students, and families and is able to refer to follow-up care appropriately if necessary.

The student
-is not able to be in charge of the inner and external safety of the client in school and student health care.
-is not able to make health examinations and provide counseling independently in school and student health care.
-is not able to make decisions in cooperation with the client and her/his family.
-is not able to counsel the client on vaccines that the client needs and is not able to vaccinate safely.
-in public health nursing, the student is not able to discuss based on the client’s individual needs.
-is not able to support the resources of the client and his/her family and is not able to intervene in the aspects that threaten health in school and student health care.
-cannot recognize the special needs of the client and family for support and is not able to guide appropriately for follow-up treatments.
-is not able to utilize multisectoral cooperation for health promotion.
