Objective

The student is able to become familiar with the background of patient counselling. He/ she knows how to plan, implement and evaluate a counselling process. The student is able to use various counselling methods and written, visual and online materials in patients counselling.

The background and principles of patient counselling. Conceptions of learning, counselling and teaching processes. Counselling methods and virtual services in patient counselling.

The student
- is able to know cursorily the concept of the guidance and the factors influencing the quality of the guiding process and is able to use the guiding methods
- in the written assignment: he/she is able to analyze guidance, but it remains brief and skim towards the profession
- is able to handle sources of knowledge, expert and empirical knowledge outside the phenomenon, references are old, or there are few references or they do not correspond to the topic
- is not able to synthesise information
- is able to report the seminar assignment according to the formal requirements, which are agreed together
- is able to write the seminar assignments mainly according to the instructions, but the report does not fully obey the instructions of the SeAMK written assignment
- is able to present the assignment mainly directly from the paper, and he/she is able to pay little attention to the audience and uses little elucidation tools or these tools do not support the presentation
- is able to show a dismissive attitude regarding the guidance

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
- is able to know the concept of the guiding and the factors influencing the quality of the guidinance and is able to use the evidence-based guiding methods
- in the written assignment: he/she is able to deal with guidance according to the goals of the study course and is able to present some relations within the professional framework
- is able to justify the sources of knowledge, and show expert and empirical knowledge
- is able to report the seminar assignment exclusively, logically and clearly according to the instructions
- is able to write good, general Finnish language and is able to follow SeAMK written assignment instructions
- is able to present fluently, is able to pay attention to the audience and use at least one elucidation tool to support the presentation, partial reading of text directly from the paper
- is able to show positive attitude towards the guidance

- is able to understand the concept of the guiding and the factors influencing the quality of the guidance and to apply the evidence-based guiding methods into the nursing practice
- in the written assignment: he /she is able to deal with guiding comprehensive and to set the phenomenon into the wider frames of profession
- is able to seek the actual research knowledge about the guiding and use the actual nursing recommendations
- is able to deal with knowledge critically and constructively
- is able to justify solutions with the sources of knowledge, and show expert and empirical knowledge
- is able to report seminar assignment creatively (illustrative tables or figures), exclusively, logically and clearly
- is able to show independent, critical and creative thinking and expertise of one's own profession
- is able to write good, clear general Finnish language and is able to follow SeAMK written assignment instructions
- is able to present the guidance moment fluently, to pay attention to the audience and to use versatile and suitable elucidation tools to support the presentation
- is able to show familiarity and expertise of the guidance

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Failed = 0
The student
- is unfamiliar with the concept of the guidance, its appearance in the nursing practice
- is not able to recognize the factors influencing to the quality of the guiding and is not able to name the guiding methods
- in the written assignment: he/she is unable to analyze the guiding process without the goals of the study course or instructions, or the internal handling of the guiding is not enough for the achievement of the goals
- is unable to report seminar assignments according to the instructions
- is unable to deliver a presentation
