Objective

Students will:

-learn to name internal and sensory anatomical structures and explain principles of their function
- know what factors contribute to physical fitness and understand how various types of stress influence the function of the organism
- know how to measure body composition and cardiorespiratory fitness and interpret the results
- know how to explain what body image means, and have a basic understanding of how feelings and emotions affect the body function

Content

- Human anatomy and physiology: cells, tissues, skin, cardiorespiratory system, blood circulation, digestion, production of urine, metabolism and temperature regulation, immune responses, sensory functions
- Impact of stress on the components of physical fitness and bodily systems
- Instruments for assessing aerobic endurance
- Body image, emotions and function of the body

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students:
- are able to name some structures of the most important internal and sensory organs and partly explain principles of their function
- are to a limited extent aware of the components of physical fitness and can explain a major part of the impact of various types of stress on the organism
- need some support with measuring body composition and cardiovascular fitness and with interpreting the results
-can to a limited extent explain what body image means, but cannot explain how emotions affect body function

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students
- are able to name the structures and principal functions of the most important internal and sensory organs
- can name the stuctures and principal functions of the nervous system
- can list the components of physical fitness and can explain the impact of various types of stress on the organism
- can measure cardiovascular fitness and interpret the results.
-can to some extent explain what body image means and know some effects of emotions on body function

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students:
-are able to to name the structures and principles of function of internal and sensory organs and flexibly apply their knowledge to physiotherapy work
- know how to apply their knowledge concerning the components of physical fitness and how to explain in professional situations the impact of various types of stress on the organism
- can extensively measure cardiovascular fitness and interpret the results using evidence-based knowledge
-are able to explain what body image means and have a basic understanding of how feelings and emotions affect the body function
