Objective

Occupational and environmental safety in construction
Students are competent in planning purchases based on the requirements of occupational and environmental safety.

Competence in the construction process
- The student is familiar with the contracts used in construction/ on a construction site and their special characteristics
- The student knows what kind of legislation and terms of contract influence contractual relations, and understands how different construction contracts differ
- The student knows the courses of action and processes in the legal practices of construction
- The student examines the solution of contact problems with the help of piecework agreements and contracts
- The student knows the basics of construction procurement planning and control
- The student is familiar with the main steps of procurement
- The student can draw a simple piecework agreement
- The student knows the difference between alteration and addition works, and knows the special measures they take in a contract

The students have performed given tasks. The students can define the basic terms in purchase control. They know different purchase orders and can plan a material procurement. They understand the basics of the responsibilities and obligations of contracting parties and know how to keep the right to speak during a construction stage. The students know the fundamentals of the two most common terms of contract used in the field and can apply precedents related to contract management and assess their usefulness when dealing with legal conflicts. They can assess the meaning of notes in project documents for the change management of a building contract and know the legal effects of different proceedings and meetings. The students know the effects of legislation and terms of contract to contractual relations and understand how different contracts differ. They know the methods and processes of legal praxis in construction. The students can fill in a contract form by YSE with the information on a simple project with separate instructions. They can distinguish between alteration work and additional work and understand the special measures they take in a building contract.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students have performed given tasks well and participated actively in the course. The students can define the terms in purchase control. They know different purchase orders and can plan material procurements for different purchase orders. They understand the principles of the responsibilities and obligations of contracting parties and know how to keep the right to speak during a construction stage. The students know the main issues of the two most common terms of contract used in the field and can apply precedents related to contract management and assess their usefulness when dealing with legal conflicts. They can assess the meaning of notes in project documents for the change management of a building contract and know the legal effects of different proceedings and meetings. The students know the effects of legislation and terms of contract to contractual relations and understand how different contracts differ.
