Objective

The student knows how to introduce himself / herself and describe his/ her education in English. The student learns to use nursing vocabulary to describe health and illness and to interview and present a patient's life situation and condition.The student is able to describe the Finnish social and health care system, and to explain the routines of a hospital/health centre. The student learns to counsel and instruct patients in a variety of common nursing situations. He/she uses different strategies in spoken interaction and adjust his/her language according to the other speaker's needs. The student knows how to use different reading strategies and learns to read various types of texts in English.
