Objective

The student is able to understand his / her professional responsibility for securing and promoting the safety of patients receiving drug and fluid care.
The student is able to plan, implement and evaluate safe drug and fluid care for various diseases.
Based on a doctor's instructions, the student is able to plan, implement and evaluate intravenous drug and fluid care and blood transfusions for patients of all ages.
The student is able to plan, implement and evaluate safe drug and fluid care for different patient groups and for special treatments.
The student knows the basics of immunisation.
The student is able to observe side and combined effects of medicines and to evaluate the effectiveness of drug care.
The student is able to calculate medication calculations correctly and administer the correct dose to the patient.

Content

Fluid balance, IV-medicine and fluid therapy. Blood transfusion. Peripheral IV -cannulation. Drug and fluid care in special cases (CVK, venous port, IO).
Preparation and administering a safe dose of iv-medicine.
Vaccinations. Monitoring the effects of drugs. Side and combined effects of medicines.
