Objective

After the course/training the student

understands the principles of health promotion and how to act according to the values of health promotion

understands the importance of the client's life history, lifestyle and situation in care

understands the economic perspective of health promotion

is able to apply existing knowledge on population health challenges at both individual and community level

knows how to plan, implement, and evaluate individual, group and community-level health promotion methods

is able to prevent risk factors that can reduce the health and functional capacity of an individual, family or community

is able to describe the strategies of key national and international health and social policy programmes from a health promotion perspective

has the basic knowledge and skills of project work and design

has participated in training using project work methods

Clinical training in the basics of clinical nursing

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Fail=0

The student
- does not manage to describe the background, purpose or objectives of the practical training placement adequately in the report
- has not sought or used theoretical, evidence-based knowledge
- does not act in a responsible manner within the project work group and the motivation to undertake practical training is poor
- does not describe how he/she has reflected on learning
- does not know how to search for the information needed in individual situations in client-centred clinical care
- cannot demonstrate the ability to use the knowledge base of client-centred clinical nursing.
- is not qualified to work in individual client-centred clinical care situations, despite having been instructed to do so
- cannot demonstrate awareness of the ethical principles for registered nurses in client-centred clinical nursing.
- is not competent to work as a member of a project team or to share his/her knowledge in client-centred clinical nursing
- is unable to analyse his/her strengths or development needs in client-centred clinical nursing
- does not follow the rules of Finnish working life

Further information

DP in Nursing students can do this training in the second year of studies.
The student has a possibility to do this training abroad as part of student exchange.

It is possible that in these training environments may also be under-aged children. Therefore, the student must show criminal record certificate before starting this training.
The criminal record certification is shown to Head of DP in Nursing one month before training starts.

SeAMK DP in Nursing in-coming exchange students can take part in this practical training. This training environment is SeAMK Wellbeing Lab.

Location and time

Clinical training includes contact days in Kampustalo but also individual information searching and planning activities for clients.
Part of the content is in a MOOC platform.

Information searching about promoting health for different patient groups

Teaching methods

Clinical training including project work methods.
Part of the course includes a section in MOOC platform for introduction for different technologies used in contacting clients and promoting their health and quality of life.

Pass: Student is able to participate the training and do the tasks during training period.

Student is able to search information about evidence based interventions to promote health and plan and implement an intervention for a client based on her /his knowledge.
Fail:
Student fails to attend the training and do not participate the promoting health interventions.
Student does not return a raport from this training period.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student is able to participate the training and do the tasks during training period.
Student will complete the iMoox orientation to pain and tehcnologies course.
Student will actively plan and quide clients in the practice.
Student is able to search information about evidence based interventions to promote health and plan and implement an intervention for a client based on her /his knowledge.
Student collects feedback from the intervention and does a raport from the period.
