Objective

Students:

-will be able to list the most common mental health problems and psychiatric diseases of the population
-will know the relevant parts of the Mental Health Act
-will be able to analyze their body, mind and emotions
-will be able to tell about clients'/patients' mental health problems and about their effect on clients'/patients' ability to function
-will learn to interpret the body-mind connections
-will know how to examine and guide clients/patients, using various methods of psychophysical physiotherapy (assessment of functional capacity, facilitatation of a client-centred rehabilitation process)

Content

Mental health problems and psychiatry and mental health law
Autonomic nervous system function (Polyvalagal theory, exercises to balance the state of over-arousal / under-arousal)
Body image: the concept and exercises to improve body awareness
Examination of patients/clients (CBE, Berit Bunkan) and resource-based physiotherapy
Applying psychophysical physiotherapy to problem situations (eating disorders, anxiety, psychosomatic symptoms, depression, prolonged pain)
Breathing, movement and touch in increasing clients' resources
the TRE method
Mindfulness
Relaxation methods (Active methods and Suggest methods)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students:

-can to a limited extent list mental health problems and psychiatric diseases of the population
- are aware of the existence of the Mental Health Act, but cannot tell about its essential content
-with support are able to analyze their body and mind
-can tell about some mental health problems, but do not recognize how they are connected with the client's ability to function
- with support, are able to interpret body-mind connections
- to some extent know how to examine and guide clients/patients, using methods of psychophysical physiotherapy (assessment of functional capacity, facilitation of a client-centred rehabilitation process)

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students:

-can tell something about the content of the Mental Health Act
- are to some extent able to analyze their body and mind
-can tell about common mental health problems and about their effect on the client's ability to function
- are partly able to interpret body-mind connections
- know how to examine and guide clients/patients, using methods of psychophysical physiotherapy (assessment of functional capacity, facilitation of a client-centred rehabilitation process)
