Objective

After the course student
- understands the difference between scientific and everyday thinking
- understands the meaning of critical thinking in investigative and developing attitude at work

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows the key phases of the thesis process and has written an accepted research plan. The student is able to find information, but there are flaws in choosing and assessing sources. The student is able to communicate from the viewpoint of the sender of the message and is not able to take into consideration the objective, the recipient or the situation. The construction of texts written during the course is disconnected, and illogical, and argumentation is one-sided and insufficient. The student is able to assess their communication only from the viewpoint of the sender of the message.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows the phases of the thesis process and is able to make a functioning research plan. The student is able to find information and evaluate it critically. The student is able to take into consideration the objective, the recipient and the situation in their communication. The construction of texts written during the course is mainly clear and logical, and argumentation is many-sided and credible. The student is able to assess their communication to some extent and partly realistically.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student knows the phases of the thesis process.The student is familiar with scientific approaches, is able to apply them in their own research plan and motivate choices made.The student is able to find suitable information on the work and evaluate it critically. The student is able to take into consideration the objective, the recipient and the situation in their communication very well and convincingly. Communication is very skilful. The construction of texts written during the course is typical of the text type. The text is logical, clear and coherent, and argumentation is many-sided, convincing, taking different viewpoints into consideration. The student is able to assess their communication realistically and in a versatile manner from the standpoint of purpose, recipient and profession.
