Objective

Student recognizes the differences of the scientific research, developmental study and developmental work. Student is able to define developmental approaches, processes and methods. Student can explain the importance of critical thinking, research and developmental study attitude and is able to give examples of the importance of research ethics.
Student can describe the basis of qualitative research, define different methods in qualitative research, collect data for qualitative research, analyze qualitative data and recognize ethical issues related to qualitative research and act upon them .

Teaching methods

The course is fully implemented online and you can start it once you have a thesis topic in place. The course is an ongoing course, meaning you can start it at any time during the academic year.

Student workload

3 credit points equals 81 hours of studying.
- Independent studying, Moodle-materials, 30h
- Weekly exercises, 24h
- Creating Research plan, 7h
- Online exam and preparing for it, 20h

Content scheduling

The course includes video lessons and weekly exercises about your own thesis topic. The Research plan will be formed out of weekly exercises. The aim of the course is that everyone has a research plan at the end of the course. The text written in the research plan is easy to use for he thesis and for the seminar presentation! At the end of the course, there is an online exam in Moodle.

Passed / Failed

Passed: The student understands the entity and approaches of research development work. Student uses the knowledge and skills he/she has learned in research planning, implementation and reporting. The student is able to draw up a research plan.

Teaching methods

The course is going on during all academic year. You can start the course, when you have done a topic analysis for your thesis. You can start the course whenever during academic year.

The course includes video lessons and weekly exercises. Exercises are related to your own thesis topic and finally they'll form a research plan. The aim of is, that eventually all participants will have ready research plan, when course is done. Research plan content is usable for thesis too, especially for the methodology part of the thesis and seminar presentation. In the end of the course there will be a Moodle -exam too.
