Objective
Competence in structural engineering:
The aim of the course is to strengthen the student's knowledge of civil engineering and the application of theory to practice. Students design the load-bearing structures of a steel-framed hall according to the Eurocodes and draw up structural drawings. Reporting of design calculations.
Content
Steel structures (4,5 cr):
- design values of loads
- stresses in load-bearing structures
- FEM calculation
- design of load-bearing and stiffening structures
- structural design of structural elements
- modelling of the hall frame and preparation of structural drawings using CAD software
- reporting of design calculations
Concrete structures (0,5 ECTS):
- dimensioning of concrete foundations
Materials
Eurocodes relating to design basis and loads on structures and their national implementing documents, where applicable. Eurocodes for concrete and steel structures and their national application documents, where applicable. Teachers' own material.

Student workload
Total work load of the course: 134 h
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students are familiar with the design process for steel-framed buildings and are able to participate in the various stages of design. They recognize the structural calculations and drawings involved in a design project and are able to produce the necessary documents. However, there is room for improvement in reporting.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Students are familiar with the design process for steel-framed buildings and are able to participate in the various stages of design. Students recognize the structural calculations and drawings involved in a design project and are able to produce the necessary documents. Reporting has been done well.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Students are familiar with the design process for steel-framed buildings and are able to participate in various design phases, even in large projects. Students recognize the structural calculations and drawings involved in a design project and are able to produce the necessary documents. The reporting has been done excellently.
Qualifications
