Objective

Competence in structural engineering:
The aim of the course is to strengthen the student's knowledge of civil engineering and the application of theory to practice. The student will design the load-bearing structures of a steel-framed hall according to the Eurocodes and draw up structural drawings. Reporting of design calculations.

Content

Steel structures (4,5 cr):
- Design values of loads
- Stresses in load-bearing structures
- FEM calculation
- Design of load-bearing and stiffening structures
- Structural design of structural elements
- Modelling of the hall frame and preparation of structural drawings using CAD software
- Reporting of design calculations

Concrete structures (0,5 ECTS):
- Dimensioning of concrete foundations

Qualifications

- Courses in structural mechanics
- Basics of structural systems and design
- Concrete Structures 1
- Steel Structures 1
- Geotechnics and foundation engineering

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows the structure of the design process of a steel structure hall and is able to participate in the different design phases. The student will be able to identify the structural calculations and drawings involved in a design project, and will be able to produce the necessary documents. However, there is room for improvement in reporting.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows the structure of the design process of a steel structure hall and is able to participate in the different design phases. The student will be able to identify the structural calculations and drawings involved in a design project and produce the necessary documents. Reporting is well done.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student will know the structure of the design process of a steel structure hall and will be able to participate in the different design phases even in large projects. The student will be able to identify the structural calculations and drawings involved in a design project, and will be able to produce the necessary documents. The reporting is excellent.
