Objective
The students achieve the written language skills in Finnish needed in academic studies, working life, and in their own discipline.
The student
- knows the general characteristics and practices of factual and scientific texts
- knows the conventions of writing documents and text genres in their own field and learns to use academic terminology
- can adapt their text according to readership and context
- knows reliable and up-to-date language guides and can use them
- is able to write an acceptable maturity test

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student is able to communicate in a sender-oriented way. She/he cannot sufficiently consider the objective, recipient, or situation. ?The structure of the text is disconnected and illogical and argumenting is one-sided and scarce. The student can, to some extent, use the Finnish language recommendations.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student is able to take the objective, situation, and recipient into consideration in most parts. The structure of the text is mainly clear and consistent and argumenting is versatile and convincing. The student is able to assess their communication in a realistic way They can use the Finnish language recommendations.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student is able to take the objective, situation, and recipient into consideration in an excellent and convincing way. She/he can act responsibly and in accordance with agreed procedures. The text is logical, clear, and coherent, and argumenting is solid, multi-perspective, and convincing. The student can assess their communication in a versatile and realistic way regarding purpose, recipient, and professional field. She/he can use the language recommendations of Finnish.
