Objective

The student understands principles of health promotion and knows how to act according to the values of health promotion. The student understands the economic perspective of health promotion. The student is able to apply existing knowledge of the population's health challenges on individual and community level. The student knows how to plan, implement and evaluate individual, group and community-level health promotion methods. He/she is able to prevent risk factors, which might impair the individual's, family's or community's health and ability to function. The student knows how to use the client's experiential knowledge in the care of health and diseases. The student can describe the strategies of important national and international health and social policy programmes from the perspective of health promotion.

The student knows how to actively search and use scientific knowledge in decision-making in nursing, in various other duties and later in the Bachelor's Thesis.The student knows how to search information from health science databases. (Information Searching 1)

Content

Levels of health promotion (individual, community, society) and forms of action (prevention, promotion). Ethics and principles of health promotion. The role of the client's life history, lifestyle and situation. Family development stages. The client's personal, situation-specific and external health factors. Resource and solution-based approach to health promotion. The link between health and health practices, prevention of risk behaviour, anticipation of health risks. Legislation for the promotion of health and well-being, national guidelines and policy programmes; international and national recommendations and strategies.

Library and information seeking services. Common health science databases. (Information Searching 1)

In the report, the student satisfactorily/adequately describes the background, purpose and objectives of the practical training placement. He/she uses a limited amount of information. The report contains some professional and research knowledge, which has been linked to a desciption of the practical health promotion activities in the placement. Student's attitude is satisfactory. His/her description is limited as regards to the progress of the practical training as a learning experience and its connection to the future profession as a nurse. The student makes little contribution to group work. He/she returns the report on time, as agreed and for the most part, writes the report according to the Seinäjoki UAS guidelines on written assignments.

In his/her report, the student competently describes the background, purpose and objectives of the practical training placement. He/she uses various sources of professional and research knowledge and is familiar with this knowledge foundation. In the report, the knowledge is competently linked to a desciption of the practical health promotion activities in the placement. The student is motivated and demonstrates a positive attitude to practical training. He/she reflects on their learning experience in relation to the progress of the practical training and the future profession as a nurse. The report is a clear and coherent whole. Within the group, the student is responsible and cooperative, contributing to the work task equally. He/she returns the report on time, as agreed and writes the report according to the Seinäjoki UAS guidelines on written assignments.

In his/her report, the student extensively describes the background, purpose and objectives of the practical training placement.He/she uses various sources of professional and research knowledge and and uses this knowledge extensively. In the report, the student uses theoretical knowledge in the arguments, and analytically and critically reflects and applies the knowledge to the practical health promotion activities in the placement. The student is especially motivated and self-directed and demonstrates a positive attitude to practical training. He/she profoundly reflects on the learning experience in relation to the progress of the practical training and the future profession as a nurse. Within the group, the student is responsible and cooperative, contributing to the work equally. The report is a clear and coherent whole. He/she returns the report on time, as agreed and writes the report according to the Seinäjoki UAS guidelines on written assignments.

Fail = 0In the report, the student does not manage to describe the background, purpose or objectives of the practical training placement adequately. He/she has not sought or used theoretical knowledge. The motivation to undertake practical training is poor. In group work, the student does not act in a responsible manner. He/she does not describe how he/she has reflected on the learning. He/she does not follow the Seinäjoki UAS guidelines on written assignments.
