Osaamistavoitteet

After the course the student will understand the differences in communication between different cultures. The student will be able to use the knowledge gained in the course on both nonverbal and verbal communication in situations where there are people from different cultures. The student will also understand what should be taken into consideration when interacting with people from different cultures.

- Lecture to impart knowledge of concepts, theories and ideas.
- Group discussion and activities to allow the student to synthesize and apply knowledge and concepts
- Personal exploration and reflection through journaling and writing to enable the student to integrate information into his or her own worldview/paradigm.
- Outreach activities aimed at providing the students the opportunity to learn from people outside of the immediate classroom

Teaching methods
The course will be highly web-based. It starts with an introduction to the course and some basic terminology, to continue with spoken and written assignments in small groups and alone, and oral presentations.

Evaluation methods

The evaluation is based on the following parts: active participation and oral presentation.
