Objective

Students are able to communicate in Swedish both in speaking and writing in working life situations. Students are able to discuss matters concerning their field of studies and working life and develop their knowledge with articles and other source material in Swedish.

- are able to write work related messages and communicate orally
- are familiar with polite idioms and everyday spoken situations
- are familiar with field-related basic terminology

- talking about themselves and studies
- applying for a job
- polite idioms and small talk
- written and spoken communication in working life, eg. Company presentation, e-mail, on the phone
- field-related texts

Material for the course on Moodle.
The material will be provided by the teacher.

Exam schedules

Written exam in virtual Exam-room at the end of the course. Oral exam face-to-face.

A failed exam can be retaken twice.

81 h. Contact lessons + independent studying and training.
Necessary amount of independent studying and training in addition to the contact lessons.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students use simple grammatical structures and limited vocabulary, mistakes disturb understanding. They understand slow and clear speech and easy field-related texts. They have a passable knowledge of working life communication. The influence of other languages in pronunciation can be detected. CEFR level B1.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students use basic grammatical structures almost flawlessly and basic field-related vocabulary in communication comprehensibly.They cope fairly well in working life communication. Pronunciation of words is understandable. CEFR level B1/B2.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students use versatile grammatical structures almost flawlessly and wide-ranging field-related vocabulary in communication.They are active and independent in working life communication. Pronunciation CEFR level B1/B2.

Qualifications

- Key grammatical structures and general vocabulary of Swedish
- Previous studies of Swedish language at the upper secondary level of education

Further information

Compulsory attendance in lessons. Minimum attendance 80 %.

Skills demonstration not possible.
