Objective

The student can introduce himself/herself and describe his/her education in the Swedish language. He/she can interview and present a patient's life situation and condition. The student can use nursing vocabulary to describe health and illness and patient`s situation. The student is able to counsel and to give instructions to patients in common nursing situations.

Content

Nursing vocabulary in Swedish. Reading different types of texts, writing tasks and practising interaction situations in the Swedish language. Health promotion, some common diseases and patient encounters in different nursing tasks.

Material provided by the lecturer.

Teaching methods

Contact teaching, oral and written exercises, work in groups and pairs, independent learning.

Student workload

Total work load of the course 80 h, out of which 24 h contact lessons, lessons on Moodle and Teams.
Independent work 56 h.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1-2:
The student uses simple structures and limited vocabulary and his/her mistakes make it difficult to understand. He/she understands slow and clear speech and relatively easy field-related texts. The student manages predictable working life situations. The student`s pronunciation is clearly influenced by other languages.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

3-4:
The student has a satisfactory command of grammatical structures and professional vocabulary. He/she manages fairly well in commonly predictable field-related situations. The student`s pronunciation is understandable.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

5:
The student has an excellent command of grammatical structures and professional vocabulary. The student is active and can interact independently and fluently in written and oral field-related situations. His/her pronounciation is close to a native speaker.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Fail:
The student does not achieve the learning outcomes described above.
