Objective

Students will learn about the controls and actuators used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. They will be competent in designing and creating hydraulic and pneumatic systems. They have command of the measurement of the system and selection of components and be able to consider the criteria for selection in their designing work.

Content

Principles of hydrostatics and dynamics, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic valves, hydraulic actuators, types of compressors, air service units, directional valves, start valves and impulse valves, pneumatic timers and logic valves, controls for pneumatic systems, principles of designing a pneumatic circuit.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

A satisfactory grade will be reached by mastering the fundamental issues mentioned in the contents. This also means that the student is able to solve simple problems.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

For a good grade the requirements increase so that the student has a more comprehensive understanding of the topic and is also able to solve more complicated problems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

An excellent grade can only be reached by fulfilling the previous demands and in addition to that the student must be able to solve a very challenging problem correctly.
