Objective

Students will be competent in modelling a rigid body under stress according to the principles of the strength theory. They will be able to determine the tension affecting on the body and whether or not the body can withstand the tension in question.

Content

Normal stress. Shear stress. Elasticity. Hooke’s law. Difference of a rod length and point shift. Statically indeterminate support and thermal stress. Bending stresses of a beam. Pure straight bending. Stainer’s law. Combining of tensions. Elastic line. Torsion.

Materials
