Objective
The course aims at adapting and developing communication skills to respond to the current global communication conditions. The student learns to understand others’ communication styles. The student will gain practical advice and tips on understanding international audience in English. As a result, the student will be able to select the right communication mode for maximum impact in different contexts.
The course provides the basic foundation and tools to become culturally competent. It develops an understanding of the cultural challenges that multicultural workplaces are facing. The aim is to enhance cultural sensitivity and competence as well as provide the student with practical tools to reduce cross-cultural misunderstanding and encourage positive cross-cultural working relationships in English.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
1. The student completes all assigned work but has difficulty understanding and following instructions. The key English terminology and concepts appropriate to the course topics remain challenging. The student does not meet his/her own learning goals for most of the course.
2. The student completes all course work, but has difficulty understanding and following the instructions. The level of the written and spoken English is understandable yet basic as studying and practicing the key English terminology and concepts appropriate to the course topics remains inadequate. The student partially meets his/her own learning goals for the course.
Attendance will have an effect on the final grade as the minimum attendance for passing the course is 50 % of the contact hours. If a student is absent from more than 20 % of the contact hours, the student will automatically receive a lower final grade.
Receiving the credit requires a full completion of the course, including submission of all course work within the given submission periods. Late work equals late grade.

The student shows signs of having studied and practiced the key English terminology and concepts appropriate to the course topics.

5. The student completes all assigned work of high quality in terms of both written and spoken English. The student is able to present engaging, well-prepared tasks, materials and ideas in clear English using different communication channels. The student meets and occasionally exceeds his/her own expected learning goals for the course. The student clearly shows signs of having studied and practiced the key English terminology and concepts appropriate to the course topics.
