Objective

Students can:

-define essential concepts of health-enhancing physical activity and sports instruction
-plan and implement a goal-oriented group session using various instruction methods
-define clients' individual health-related needs for change and guide the change process
- measure and assess clients' health using various methods, including technology and digital tools
-promote their clients' health with help of guidelines and evidence-based knowledge
- tell about the importance of exercise, nutrition and rest for health and wellbeing
- act in a purposeful and client-centred way when counselling/guiding people of all ages in health promotion

- People illnesses
- Methods and principles of health promotion
- National guidelines on physical exercise and nutrition
- The transtheoretical model of behaviour change
- Motivational interviewing/counselling
- Encountering and counselling clients in a practical health counselling situation
- Various assessment methods and technologies for analysis e.g. FirstBeat

The studies consist of lectures, individual and group assignments and practical exercises

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students can:

-define essential concepts of health-enhancing physical activity and sports instruction if prompted by the teacher
- measure and assess clients' health using basic methods, but cannot find means to promote clients' health
- list important national health promotion guidelines, but cannot apply them when counselling patients/clients in various physiotherapy situations
- mechanically apply principles and methods of counseling and advising; need guidance in this
-advise clients on health promotion in a mechanical manner
-under supervision, measure and assess clients'/patiens' health, but cannot without support guide the client in undertaking health-promoting change processes

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students can:

-define some concepts of health-enhancing physical activity and sports instruction
- measure and assess clients' health using basic methods; promote clients' health and give theoretical explanations
- make use of important national health promotion guidelines when counselling patients/clients in various physiotherapy situations
- mechanically apply principles and methods of counseling and advising
-act purposefully but in a mechanical manner when counselling clients on health promotion
-measure and assess clients'/patiens' health using some methods and technological solutions and in obvious cases, can guide clients in undertaking change processes

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students can:

-define concepts of health-enhancing physical activity and sports instruction
- measure and assess clients' health using various methods and promote clients' health using evidence-based knowledge
- make use of important national and international health promotion guidelines when individually counselling patients/clients in various physiotherapy situations
- extensively apply principles and methods of counseling and advising in health promotion, using evidence-based knowledge
-act purposefully with a client-centred approach when counselling clients on health promotion
-measure and assess clients'/patiens' health using a variety of methods and technology and, based on the results, guide clients in undertaking a change process
