Osaamistavoitteet

Students will acquire the ability to interpret drawings in the fields of electrical and automation engineering. They will be competent in using CAD programmes for electrical and automation designing, and they will understand their features and areas where the programmes can be used. Upon completion of the course, students will possess the readiness they need to make simple, field-related drawings using CAD and to choose appropriate ways to present their work.

Sisältö

- Basic knowledge of electrical and automation engineering drawings.
- Fundamentals of symbols and drawing techniques.
- Use of computers in design work.
- Practical assignments through which students learn to design and draw general electrical and automation diagrams while becoming familiar with the functions of CAD systems.

Electrical Engineering Documentation course or similar knowledge

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1)

The student can describe and utilize basic concepts of EPLAN software with some variability. He/she is able to draw basic level main circuits, control circuits and panel layouts and apply them to design basic-level electrical and automation system.

The student is familiar with the concepts of EPLAN software, and is able to draw different types of main circuits, control circuits and panel layouts. He/she is able to apply them to to different types design of electrical and automation system.

In addition to the previous competencies, the student:
- independently applies their skills in demanding and diverse electrical and automation design tasks and projects.
- evaluates and improves the quality of diagrams to support safe installation, operation, and troubleshooting.
- takes lifecycle aspects of documentation into account, including the impact of design choices on investment and maintenance costs, maintainability and availability, as well as energy consumption.
