Suplementary Studies in Early Childhood Education (60 ECTS) includes knowledge on child’s growth, development and learning; early childhood education pedagogy and learning environments; guiding children and groups, and family support and guidance. The study module includes pedagogical practice and a developmental task, which includes reflective and developmental approach.

Suplementary Studies in Early Childhood Education -study module provide an opportunity for employment in early childhood education and care, teaching and education of groups of children and interdisciplinary cooperation with families. By the end of their studies, students will be able to express the specific competences of the social pedagogue in early childhood education and will have internalized the role of the social pedagogue (early childhood education and care) as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The study module leads to the qualification of a social pedagogue (early childhood education and care) for graduates of the Bachelor of Social Services.

3 Competence in service systems

The Bachelor of Social Services
- knows the service provision systems which support welfare and social security and the relevant legislation and data systems; knows how to apply legislation and data systems in practise
- knows how to predict and analyse changes in the welfare services and is able to participate in providing and developing the services
- is capable of assessing clients’ needs for services in different life situations and is familiar with case management and with the foundation and methods of preventive work
- can act as an expert of social services in multidisciplinary teams and networks and promote the function of clients’ safety nets
