DESCRIPTION AND COMPETENCE AREAS OF THE DEGREE PROGRAMME:
The Degree Programme for Cultural Managers (Master’s level) prepares experts in and innovators of creative economy, who are able to recognize targets for development in their field and to plan and manage processes of change. The student develops their competencies in the management of processes of creative economy and public cultural services with an entrepreneurial approach. The entrepreneurial way of action is an ability to lead work communities in creative professions in a flexible and creative way. The student improves their business competencies, necessary for today’s rapidly changing and global operational environments. The aim of the studies is to develop an understanding of the operational environments of especially creative economy and to seek profitable solutions for consumer demand.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCY PROFILE:
A graduate with a Master’s Degree can perform duties in planning and management, as a manager of development projects and as an independent entrepreneur with the sufficient business competencies. The Degree qualifies the student for professional duties requiring a Master’s Degree.

PEDAGOGIC MODELS FOR ACTION:
Multimodal learning methods are used in the studies. Each course includes two to three days of contact teaching, which can also be attended online. The studies emphasize both independent study and assignments completed as distant learning. A working life-based development project is an essential part of the studies.

Objective

The student is able to
- apply a predictive method as part of the anticipation of demand for products and services
- assess the role of scenario thinking as part of their professional expertise
- assess and present arguments as to if different visions and goals are realistic in strategic planning and management
- assess the potential market and life cycle of cultural products from the business perspective
- develop the user-orientation and added value structure of cultural products and services
- describe the opportunities to exploit immaterial rights
- recognize the typical and special features of business in creative fields
- analyze the entrepreneurial path in creative fields and plan the refining and testing of a product or service idea
- analyze the key factors of success
- assess their own entrepreneurial resources
