PROFILE OF THE PROGRAMME
Physiotherapists are experts in the assessment and promotion of clients' mobility and functional capacity. They plan, implement, evaluate and develop their work independently.

The central aim in physiotherapy is to maintain the functional and work capacity of the population as long as possible. The physiotherapists also seek to affect our living and working environment.
The physiotherapists work in hospitals, health centres, research and care institutions, rehabilitation centres and spas, in the occupational health service, in public health and sports organizations, in institutions for the disabled and the elderly, in children's day care centres, in schools and in the municipal provision of physical education services. They may also become independent practitioners.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES
Physiotherapists are experts in the assessment and promotion of clients' mobility and functional capacity. After graduation, the student has developed his or her international skills in many different ways; through the foreign language material used in the studies, the lectures produced by the exchange teachers and the means to support home internationality. For example, participating in intensive weeks.
PEDAGOGICAL APPROACH
Physiotherapy education follows the pedagogy of Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The pedagogical philosophy of PBL is based on cognitive-constructivist and experiential learning, which means that learning evolves as a result of the student's active mental process of managing information and working through the sum of their previous and current experiences.
One central idea in Problem-Based Learning is that learning and tutoring should be based on current challenges in society and working life. Students learn to solve problems in ways that have relevance to practice. For this reason, individual courses have been integrated into larger modules and themes. Instead of seeing education as a provision of information, production of experiences and competencies is emphasized.
The labour market and expertise call for knowledge acquisition and management skills, continuous learning as well as ability to apply evidence-based learning in practical work. Students assume responsibility for their learning and become committed to target-oriented and self-directed action in both theoretical and practical studies.
The studies involve work in small groups, expert lectures, project work and practical training in various learning environments.
After graduation, physiotherapists are competent to work with people of all ages, for example in hospitals, health centres, assessment and rehabilitation units, spas, occupational health services, private physiotherapy practices, various organizations, municipal school and sports services, as private entrepreneurs or in various programmes or projects.
