Objective

After completing the course, the student is able to:
- explain the structures and operating principles of internal combustion engines
- explain the stages of the combustion process and their significance for engine efficiency and emissions
- explain the methods for controlling the combustion process
- explain the operation of the exhaust system and its effects
- explain boosting and the impact of volumetric efficiency
- explain concepts such as power, torque, and efficiency
- justify aspects related to maintenance
- find the latest information related to the subject.

- Otto and diesel engines
- Crankshaft and valve mechanism structures
- Vibration damping
- Lubrication and cooling
- Fuels and lubricants
- Working cycle and combustion process
- Exhaust gases and their aftertreatment
- Boosting (turbocharging/supercharging)
- Maintenance

Level 3-4: Student knows the knowledge objectives of the course well.
