Objective

The student
- is able to work in accordance with the values, ethical guidelines and principles of nursing care, and evaluates their implementation in daily nursing care.
- getting trained the needs of the client/patient by planning, implementing and assessing appropriate individual nursing care in cooperation with the client/patient, their next-of-kin, and other professionals.
- masters the principles of infection prevention and puts his/ her knowledge into practice in the implementation of infection prevention.
- applies a rehabilitative approach in nursing work when counseling the client/patient to achieve/maintain functional ability.
- identifies health risk factors of clients/patients.
- complies with the requirements and regulations governing data protection and information security in health care and social welfare services relating to the creation, use, storage and disposal of data.
-documents the nursing care of the client/patient, according to the nursing care process.
-assesses the client’s/patient’s need for interventions (care) in accordance with the Finnish Care Classification (FinCC) plans and implements interventions using the Finnish Classification of Nursing Interventions (FiCNI), evaluates nursing outcomes using the Finnish Classification of Nursing Outcomes (FiCNO), as well as produces a summary of the nursing care.
-takes into account the principles of sustainable development.

- can search information, follow instructions and work in individual client-centered clinical nursing situations.
- demonstrates that he/she knows the ethical principles for registered nurses/public health nurses.
- knows how to act in a client and patient-safe manner.
- can understand infection control in nursing.
- can describe methods of helping in nursing work.
- can describe the principles of the rehabilitative approach.
- can describe the principles of team work.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
- searches various sources for information required in nursing and can justify nursing decisions.
- is competent to implement responsible and safe client- / patient centered clinical nursing.
- can justify infection control in nursing.
- can justify the use of different nursing assistance methods in nursing.
- can justify the use of the principles of the rehabilitative approach in nursing work.
- is competent to work as a member of a team, following the principles of client-centered clinical nursing and sharing knowledge.
- knows and can use the principles of sustainable development and economical principles in nursing.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
- uses and applies evidence-based knowledge in client-centred nursing.
- is competent to implement responsible and safe client-centred nursing.
- can give reasons for his/her actions based on the ethical principles of registered nurses/public health nurses.
- can implement and evaluate infection control procedures in various nursing situations.
- can apply his knowledge in the use of various nursing assistance methods in nursing work.
- can apply the principles of the rehabilitative approach to nursing work.
- is competent to work as a member of a team and shares his/her knowledge in client-centred nursing.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student

- cannot demonstrate ability to use the knowledge base of client-centred nursing.
- is not competent to work in individual client-centred nursing situations even if instructed.
- cannot demonstrate awareness of the ethical principles for nurses in client-centred clinical nursing.
- does not know how to prevent infections in nursing.
- does not know how to act in a client- and patient-safe way in client-oriented nursing.
- is not able to describe implementations of nursing.
- is not able to describe the principles of the rehabilitative approach in nursing.
- is not competent to work as a member of a team or to share knowledge in client-centred clinical nursing.
-is unable to analyse his/her strengths or development needs in client-centred clinical nursing.
- does not know the principles of sustainable development or economical principles.
