Tavoitteet

Students understand the importance of logistics for business, industry and cooperation between companies. Students identifiy the key players, functions and processes in logistics and supply chain management. They acquire the fundamentals and basic concepts of logistical thinking. Students understand the overview of logistical flows at the top level and applies it to the circular economy. They identify the ethical aspects of logistics and apply them to supply chain management as a whole.

The different stages of the logistics process (inbound and outbound logistics); the different actors, functions and processes in the supply chain; supply chain management; logistics and its role in adding value; measuring logistics performance, service levels and costs; logistics process design; logistics as a strategic competitive factor; logistics system; freight and passenger transport; risk management; ethical practices

Opetusmenetelmät

This implementation is fully online studying. There will be 5 topics in total, which will be published as the course proceeds. Each topic contains one lecture recording, weekly assignment and other materials. Submitting the weekly assignments is not mandatory but recommended. The exam is mandatory. To complete the course, student must gain enough course points by doing the assignments and completing the exam. Course is graded based on total points (minimum 50,00p). Points are divided as follows: Assignments 5+5+5+5+10p Exam 70p => Total 100p NOTE: late submissions will decrease the assignment points automatically by 50 percent after deadline.

Course topics will be published as the course proceeds. More detailed deadlines on Moodle. The course will start on week 4 (20.1) and each of the five topic will have two weeks' of timeslot to complete. The first timeslot is on weeks 5-6. The exam will be available in April on week 15.
