Objective
The student understands digitalization and is able to describe its development. He understands the potential of digitalization in business. Students will learn to conceptualize and identify key digital technologies, systems, and infrastructures and learn to apply and evaluate these as needed to develop an organization’s digital business. Students will identify and understand digital business concepts such as mobile technology, cloud computing, e-commerce, big data analytics.
Content
The course introduces the concepts and models of digital business: digital economy, the connection of digital business to the global economy, digital business technologies, data infrastructures and platforms, digital business security, transparency, privacy, and business risks.

Teaching methods
The study is conducted online in the Moodle learning environment. The study is carried out independently at your own pace during the implementation period, due dates have been given for course assignments. The study does not include joint meetings or pair or group work.
The student familiarizes themselves with the theoretical material and completes online assignments and exam according to the given instructions. The study requires independent work and scheduling.
Student workload
Independent study 54 h.
The workload of the study is designed so that one credit corresponds to an average of 27 hours of student work to achieve the learning objectives. The actual time required varies individually, e.g., due to prior knowledge.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student knows the basic concepts and models of digital business. He/she recognizes the key technologies, data infrastructures, and platforms of digital business and understands their significance in principle.

The student is familiar with digital business concepts and models. He knows the key technologies, data infrastructures, and platforms of digital business and understands their use in business development.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Opiskelija tuntee digitaaliset liiketoiminnan käsitteet ja mallit. Hän tuntee digitaalisen liiketoiminnan keskeiset teknologiat, datainfrastruktuurit ja alustat ja osaa soveltaa niiden käyttöä liiketoiminnan kehittämisessä.
