Objective

The student knows the main grammatical structures and general vocabulary in Swedish. They can write simple texts in Swedish. They can develop their language skills.
The course will help students to complete the compulsory Swedish language course of their degree program.

Texts and exercises to practice general language and vocabulary

Independet learning in Moodle. Theme changes weekly.

Exam schedules

The course is especially recommended for all students coming from vocational upper secondary education and for those who have not taken Swedish in the matriculation examination. There is no exam in the end of the course

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass: The student completes the given exercises and the exam with a pass grade.
The student uses basic structures and a limited vocabulary in spoken and written communication. Mistakes have some impact on comprehension. The student understands slow and clear speech and simple texts about familiar everyday situations. Pronunciation is understandable.

Fail: Exercises and assignments and/or exam are not passed.

Qualifications

Previous Swedish language studies at the upper secondary level are required. The student has a basic knowledge of Swedish but their language proficiency is below level B1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Further information

Prerequisites: Previous studies of Swedish language at the upper secondary level of education. Students have the basics of Swedish, but the level of language skills is lower than CEFR B1.

The course helps pass the Swedish course, which is part of the degree.

Students cannot demonstrate their equivalent language skills (recognition of prior learning).
