Objective

Students will learn appropriate, goal-oriented communication and interaction. They will know how to analyse and evaluate their communication skills as part of their professional development. When writing their assignments, students will apply SeUAS Instructions for Written Work.

Content

-Analysis of communication styles
-Presentation skills
-Group communication skills (discussion, giving and receiving feedback, common practices, meetings, standard document formatting,minutes of meetings, memos)
-Instructions for Written Work (referencing technique, writing a summary, template)

Qualifications

No previous studies are required.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Grade 1-2:
Students communicate from the sender perspective, they do not pay adequate attention to the aim, receiver or context. The structure of their texts is incoherent and illogical, their argumentation narrow and scarce. Students do not illustrate their points adequately or appropriately. They are able to evaluate their communication from the sender perspective only.
Grade 3-4:
In their communication, students are partly able to pay adequate attention to the aim, context and receiver. They are able to maintain interaction. Students are to some extent aware of the culture-specific aspects of communication. Their texts are mainly clear and logical, with wide and credible argumentation. Students illustrate their points appropriately. They are to some extent able to evaluate their communication realistically.

Grade 5:
In communication, students competently and convincingly take into consideration the aim, context, aim and receiver. They act in a responsible manner according to what has been agreed on. Their interaction is very competent. Students are aware of the culture-specific nature of communication. Their texts are structured according to the purpose of the text, their texts are logical, clear and coherent and the argumentation is convincing, incorporating multiple perspectives. Students provide appropriate, effective and well thought out illustrations of their points. They are able to evaluate their communication realistically and from multiple perspectives, taking into consideration the aim, purpose, receiver and the entire professional field.
