Sisältö

The course is divided into the different levels of sustainability: economic, social and environmental sustainability. The levels are explored through a variety of examples.
A) Sustainable development will be examined from the perspective of international politics and policy-making. The session will explore the SDGs and the challenges they pose and the hegemonic struggle between different perspectives.

B) Sustainable development from the perspective of consumption. The old negative stereotypes of the green consumer are changing. Rather, the consumer is seen as a major market force, forcing markets and companies to go green. "The 'consumer citizen' is interested not only in the pleasurable and economic dimensions of consumption, but also in the ethical and environmental aspects of consumption.

C) Focus on technology; how technology can solve sustainability problems and challenges. This will include technological innovation and measurability.

D) Ecological sustainability from the perspective of scientific principles and environmental problems. Topics include population growth, climate change and biodiversity.
