English, preparatory course (2cr)

Objective

The student is able to use the English standard language in studies both in writing and spoken communication. In addition, they are prepared to develop field-specific communication skills in English. The student is capable of developing and assessing their own competencies in business English communication autonomously.

Tasks which give practice in different areas of communicative competence in English.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Students use simple structures and limited vocabulary in spoken and written communication. They understand slow and clear speech and field-related texts and manage reasonably well in familiar everyday situations.

Students cannot demonstrate their equivalent language skills (recognition of prior learning).
80% compulsory attendance in lessons.
