Osaamistavoitteet
Concrete works do not have to be stopped in temperatures under zero. Nordic countries have been used to adopt many special technologies to keep concrete warm enough to cast it and to gain strength rapidly while outside temperature is low. On the other hand, hardened concrete may be wet and at the same time be exposed to freezing, thawing and salt. Negative effects can be overcome and high strengths may be gained by utilizing different additives and chemical agents. The course includes calculations and experimental laboratory works.

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1)
Student knows the basics of how to cast concrete in winter conditions, in hot weather or in massive structures. Student knows how to observe the temperature and the maturation development of hardening concrete, and how to avoid damages of freezing and thawing or overheating, and how to make use of superplasticizers and air-entraining agents.
Student knows what kind of methods there exist.
