Objective

Students will:

- learn the background and concepts pertaining to strategic management and personnel management
- can explain the meaning of management, development and quality management for organizational activities
-understand the meaning of management and quality work in the organization and evaluate the level of quality work

Content

-Basics of personnel management (employee skills, recruitment, orientation for new employees, appraisal interviews, management and wellbeing at work)
- Concepts of strategic management (vision, mission, strategy, values)
-Effective performance in a service organization (BSC)
-Quality management in a service organization (ITE self-assessment instrument, EFQM)

Teaching methods

Asiantuntijaluento, opetuskeskustelut, itsenäinen tehtävä johtamiseen ja laadunhallintaan liittyen.

Student workload

Opintojakso vastaa 2 op:n eli noin 54 tunnin työtä. Työ koostuu osallistumisesta luentopäivään ja itsenäisestä tehtävästä ja sen esittämisestä ns. johtamisen seminaaripäivässä.

Students are not independenly able to evaluate and develop their action. They do not use theoretical knowledge or evidence to explain their choices. They fail to demonstrate by their action that they understand the meaning of management, development and quality management in work communities.

-Students demonstrate by their action that they understand the meaning of management, development and quality management in work communities.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- Students find solutions in new, unexpected situations and independently evaluate and develop their action. Students justify their choices theoretically, with evidence-based knowledge. They demonstrate by their action that they understand the meaning of management, development and quality management in work communities.
