Objective

COMPETENCE IN HEALTH PROMOTION

Students are able to use health-related evidence-based knowledge of adults in the different health promotion situations

They will acquire central knowledge and skills required in public health nursing and counselling of adult clients and study the essential contents of occupational health and safety in general and from the perspective of their future profession.

Content

The course discusses the health of the adult population in light of Finnish and international studies, the factors that influence the health and well-being of adults, experts and multi-professional collaboration in public health nursing of the adult population, the environment and the health of the adult population, workplace assessment, first-aid, safety equipment, health examinations and the teaching and counselling of adult clients.

No previous studies are required.

- know how to assess the influence of the adults' life situation and work on health
- know how to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion from the viewpoint of work and health
- know how to counsel and teach adult clients to promote their health by discussing factors related to life situation and work

- know how to analyse the influence of the adults' life situation and work on health
- know how to implement health promotion from the viewpoint of work and health
- know to a moderate degree how to counsel and teach adult clients to promote their health by discussing factors related to life situation and work

Students
- are aware that adults' life situation and work has an influence on their health
- know how to explain health promotion from the viewpoint of work and health
- are able to describe health-promoting counselling and teaching of adult clients and factors related to their life situation and work

Fail
Students
-are not aware of how life situation and work affect adult people's heallt
-are not able to define or implement health promotion
-do not have adequate counselling or teaching competence
