Objective

Students
-are able to list the national and the most important international health promotion guidelines
-promote their clients' health by making use of the guidelines and evidence-based knowledge
-are able to explain about the importance of physical exercise, nutrition and rest to people's health and wellbeing
-apply the latest nutritional guidelines to promote their clients' health
-are able to act appropriately, with a client-centred approach when advising/counselling people of all ages on health promotion

Content

- Methods and principles of health promotion
- National guidelines on physical exercise and nutrition
- The transtheoretical model of behaviour change
- Motivational interviewing/counselling
- Encountering and counselling clients in a practical health counselling situation

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students:
- know how to make use of some national health promotion guidelines when counselling their patients/clients in various physiotherapy situation
- are partly familiar with the principles and techniques in health promotion guidance and counselling

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students:
- know how to make use of essential national health promotion guidelines when counselling their patients/clients in various physiotherapy situations
- have good command of the principles and techniques in health promotion guidance and counselling

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students:
- know how to make use of essential national and international health promotion guidelines when counselling their patients/clients in various physiotherapy situations
- have extensive command of the principles and techniques in health promotion guidance and counselling
