Objective
The student gets familiar with the current food and nutrition issues and to their scientific background. The student can analyse the national and international studies of the field and can utilise and adapt them both to the analysis assignment and to a media text. The student can observe critically and analytically texts which are related to food and nutrition. The student can assess and develop his/her role as an expert of his/her field. The student gets familiar with nutrition communication. He/she can write and analyse media texts according to the principles of the media writing. The student can justify authoritatively and credibly the choices made by him/her and can give constructive feedback.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student masters some principles how to analyse or to produce media texts in his/her field. The student can analyze the chosen media, the target group and the criteria of compiling of media text when assisted. The student is able to analyse the structure and textual elements of the media text but not systematically. The student knows current food and nutrition issues and perceive partially their scientific background. He/she is able to do information retrieval in the field of nutrition and is mostly able to use reliable sources of nutrition knowledge. The student masters some principles how to write a media text about food and nutrition. He/she is able to partially justify choices made and is able to give constructive feedback.
Assessment criteria, good (3)

He/she knows the criteria of compiling of media text and can analyse both the structure and the textual elements from some point of views. The student knows current food and nutrition issues and knows their scientific background. He/she is able to communicate with demanding contents in food and nutrition field. The student can justify made choices in a convincing and proficient way and is able to give constructive feedback.

The participation in the course requires the knowledge of Ravitsemustaito (Voutilainen E., Fogelholm M., Mutanen M. 2015 or newer) or the similar contents. The knowledge will be shown in online-exam at the beginning of the study module.
The course is available through CampusOnline during summer 2023.
