Objective

The student
*knows the legislation and recommendations for student health care and the contents for the services.
*is able to plan, implement, and evaluate the health examinations in student health care and the screening of client’s health, growth, and development.
*is able to support the client towards health promoting choices.
*is able to support the family of client when needed.
*is able to notice individually the study environment and the risks for her/his future work.
*is able to evaluate the need for special support for the client and is able to counsel and guide for follow-up treatment when needed.
*is able to promote the safe study community and environment in cooperation with other personnel at school and with different stakeholders.
*is able to work in a multidisciplinary manner in student health care.

Content

Student health care services, afferent legislation and recommendations.
Health examinations for students, health screening methods and evaluation. Promoting health of the students and supporting their resources.
School health surveys.
First aid and receptions when needed at student health care. Participation in other activities of the school.
Early recognition of the need for special support for the student. Multisectoral co-operation and guidance for follow-up treatment.
Cooperation with the family of the student.
Cooperation with other personnel at school to promote safe and healthy school and study community and environment.
Health risks of the student’s study environment and future work.

The student
- demonstrates and manages the basic knowledge of the different aspects of health care work.
- seeks information and justifies the use of data sources in health care.
- justifies the action with evidence-based information for the development of health care.
- is capable of independent decision-making in different situations and operating environments in health care.
- operates in a client-oriented and client-friendly manner in health care.
- is able to guide individual clients and their families in health care.
- works safely and in accordance with the principles of professional ethics of the public health nurse.
- works as a health care expert in multidisciplinary groups.

The student
- demonstrates the management of the knowledge base of different areas of health care and applies information widely in health care.
- is capable of independent decision-making in different health care situations and environments.
- operates in a customer-oriented, responsible and safe manner in health care.
- is able to listen, support, and guide individual clients and their families in health care.
- is able to promote group health.
- works safely as a nurse and in accordance with the principles of professional ethics.
- evaluates and critically uses evidence-based information for health care development.
- works as a health care expert in multidisciplinary groups.

The student
- demonstrates wide-ranging management of the knowledge base of the various areas of health care and expertly applies it in health care.
- is capable of independent decision-making in different health care situations and environments.
- works according to the needs of the client and his/her family in health care.
- is able to listen, support, and guide the client and his/her family in health care.
- demonstrates the management of the individual, group, and community health promotion methods.
- assumes responsibility for the overall care and service process of the client in healthcare.
- independently searches for evidence-based information, uses it and assesses it critically in health care and its development.
- is able to develop himself/herself and health-care activities in accordance with the principles of professional ethics and safety.
- is able to develop activities as a health care expert in multidisciplinary groups.

- demonstrates inadequate management of basic information on the various aspects of health care and their application in nursing care.
- insufficiently justifies his/her activities in public health care.
- is not able to operate in a client-oriented and client-friendly manner in health care.
- has inadequate self-decision skills in health care.
- does not take adequate account of ethical principles in the field of health care.
