Objective

The student
*knows the legislation for school health care and the contents for the services.
*is able to plan, implement and evaluate the screening of a school aged child's growth and development and the health examinations included.
*is able to cooperate with a child, teenager and his/her family and to recognize the challenges included.
*is able to support the school aged child, teenager and his/her family towards health promoting choices.
*is able to support parenting.
*is able to recognize the needs for special support for a school aged child, teenager and his/her family.
*is able to counsel and guide clients for follow-up treatment when needed.
*is able to cooperate with other personnel working at school.
*is able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in school health care.

Content

Family health services, school health care services, the legislation and recommendations included. Health examinations for school aged children and teenagers, health screening methods and evaluation. Counseling for a school aged child, teenager and his/her family. Cooperation with the family and support for parenting.
First aid and receptions when needed at school health care. Utilizing school health surveys at school health care work. Participation in the activities of the school.
Early recognition of the needs for special support for a school aged child, teenager and his/her family. Multisectoral cooperation and guidance for follow-up treatment. Promotion of a safe school environment and community.

The student
- demonstrates and manages the basic knowledge of the different aspects of health care work.
- seeks information and justifies the use of data sources in health care.
- justifies the action with evidence-based information for the development of health care.
- is capable of independent decision-making in different situations and operating environments in health care.
- operates in a client-oriented and client-friendly manner in health care.
- is able to guide individual clients and their families in health care.
- works safely and in accordance with the principles of professional ethics of the public health nurse.
- works as a health care expert in multidisciplinary groups.

The student
- demonstrates management of the knowledge base of different areas of health care and applies information widely in health care.
- is capable of independent decision-making in different health care situations and environments.
- operates in a customer-oriented, responsible and safe manner in health care.
- is able to listen, support, and guide individual clients and their families in health care.
- is able to promote group health.
- works safely as a nurse and in accordance with the principles of professional ethics.
- evaluates and critically uses evidence-based information for health care development.
- works as a health care expert in multidisciplinary groups.

The student
- demonstrates wide-ranging management of the knowledge base of the various areas of health care and expertly applies it in health care.
- is capable of independent decision-making in different health care situations and environments.
- works according to the needs of the client and his/her family in health care.
- is able to listen, support, and guide the client and his/her family in health care.
- demonstrates the management of individual, group, and community health promotion methods.
- assumes responsibility for the overall care and service process of the client in health care.
- independently searches for evidence-based information, uses it and assesses it critically in health care and its development.
- is able to develop himself/herself and health-care activities in accordance with the principles of professional ethics and safety.
- is able to develop activities as a health care expert in multidisciplinary groups.

- insufficiently justifies his/her activities in public health care.

- does not take adequate account of ethical principles in the field of health care.
