Objective
The students can communicate in Swedish both orally and in writing in working life situations. They are able to discuss field related topics in Swedish. They are able to develop their expertise using literature as well as other sources in Swedish.
Students:
- can tell about themselves, their education and work experience
- can write a cv and a job application and can handle job interviews
- can write work relevant messages (e.g. e-mails) and manage work related telephone conversations, company presentations and other spoken communication situations
- can use polite phrases
- know the basic terminology of the field

Swedish studies at an upper secondary school or corresponding knowledge gained otherwise.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
There are lots of major errors in the student's written expression and problems with the fluency of text. Their text is simple, partly incoherent and unintelligible.
There are lots of mistakes in the student's oral expression and the pronunciation differs from that of the target language. The main message is conveyed despite the deficiencies, but disturbing influence of other languages. The student masters the most basic vocabulary and key grammatical structures in a limited way.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
There are some minor errors in the student's written expression, but the message is still conveyed without problems. Their text is fluent and consistent, mistakes do not lead to misunderstandings.
There are some mispronunciations and grammatical errors in the student's oral expression, but they do not disturb the conveying of the message. Fairly good, fluent basic language skills, presented relatively spontaneously. Hesitation slows down the student's speech.
The student masters the basic vocabulary and field-specific vocabulary quite well. The student uses key grammatical structures quite faultlessly.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student's written expression is faultless, very fluent, and the student pays attention to stylistic matters required by professional-life communication situations. They also use complex syntactic structures in their text.
There are no mistakes in oral expression. Overall, their speech is spontaneous, fluent narration, which the listener can easily follow. The student reacts in an adequate way in interactive situations.
The student masters a large vocabulary and uses grammatical structures fluently and in a varied way.

- written and oral assignments submitted
- oral and written exams passed
After passing the course, the students will get “virkamiesruotsi” (the Swedish language skills described in Act on the Knowledge of Languages Required of Personnel in Public Bodies, Act 424/2003). Oral and written Swedish language skills will then be evaluated separately on a scale of good (4-5) and satisfactory (1-3).
