Concrete ConstructionLaajuus (3 cr)

Code: 8H00DL19

Objective

Occupational and environmental safety in construction
The student knows how to manage the execution of concrete and masonry structures. They are able to organise the installation work and the construction of temporary support structures, attending to occupational safety.

Competence in the construction process
The student is able to acknowledge the effect of the follow-up steps and molding on concrete creep.
The student is familiar with the materials and mode of operation of usual masonry structures and the selection criteria for masonry units and mortar mixes. The student identifies the modes of usual masonry structures.
The student is familiar with the reinforcements of different structural members and the structural instructions of on-site cast structural members and the basics of prestressing structures. The student understands the effect of the mode of operation of prestressed structures on building work. The student is able to acknowledge the requirements of building services engineering in the execution of the framework (penetration drawings).

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows how to manage safe and qualitative execution of concrete and masonry structures. The student knows the matters affecting the choice of material and concrete creep.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to recognise the most important structural members of concrete structures and different joints and supports. The student is able to recognise matters required by special methods and special structures.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the abilities above, the student masters well and is able to apply subjects learned. They can also analyse connections between subjects. The student can do versatile analyses and draw conclusions based on learned subjects.
