Objective

Upon completion of the course, students will
- be able to do the most common measurements in automobiles.
- be able to use garage equipment, meters and instruments.
- be able to do troubleshooting using them.

Content

- Inspections of driving space, movement, fuel and braking
- Measuring power dunamo meters and pneumatic brakes
- Inspections of rocking and wheel alignment

Level 1-2: Student knows the basics of the knowledge objectives of the course.

Teaching methods

Exercises and laboratory work in the Automotive and Work machine laboratory. In addition, the teaching method will include the creation of measurement protocols and work reports.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students will understand how different types of test equipment work. Measurement protocols and reports are reasonably successful and provide key points. Under supervision, the student will be able to carry out laboratory work with a reasonable degree of success. The student will be able to complete laboratory work safely.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students will understand how different types of test equipment work and what kind of testing they are capable of. The measurement protocols produced are of good quality. Work reporting is comprehensive, describing well the progress of the work and the theoretical background of the subject area. Students are able to identify measurement uncertainties during different tests. The student will be able to complete laboratory work safely.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Students will understand how different types of test equipment work and what kind of testing they are capable of. The measurement protocols produced will be of good quality and comprehensive. Work reporting is accurate and comprehensive, describing well the progress of the work and the theoretical background of the subject area. Students are able to think critically and understand the impact of measurement uncertainty on the results. The student will be able to complete laboratory work safely.
