Objective
Students will learn the primary biological, technical and economical principles of Scandinavian Forest management by learn-by-doing- method. They will be able to do safely basic silvicultural treatments in the forest . Students will be familiar with the more common methods of forest measurement.
                    
Content
Multi-purpose uses of Forest in Finland
 Silviculturar operations
 Impact of soil and climate on the growth of forests 
 Biological characteristics of the most common species of trees ; how to manage even-aged and uneven- aged forest stands
 Methods for growing and renewing forests and applying those methods into practice.Basic concepts and methods of forest measurement.
                    
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student is able to list and define, clarify and analyse the chain of the timber production. She/he is able to utilize his/her skills in different forest stands and work safely. The student will be able to utiliaze the forest management plan according the targets set by the forest owner.

The student is able to list and define the chain of the timber production. She/he is able to do the basic forest management 
tasks safely.
                    
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student is able to list and define, clarify and analyse the chain of the timber production. She/he is able to utilize his/her skills in different forest stands and work safely. The student will be able to utiliaze the forest management plan according the targets set by the forest owner.
