Objective

Students recognise international discussions on social work and are able to apply an international perspective to the development of social services.

Content

International view points of social policy and social work for example in comparative research. If students are interested, this course can be combined with a trip abroad. The course can also involve cooperation with a university in another country. The possible cooperation influences on
the content. One possibility is to study welfare and social services in Finland in comparison to other countries.

More literature is given during the classes.

Teaching methods

The course material consist of lectures and litteratur and dialogic virtual assignement. These and the task(s) that the passing of the course requires are explained when the course begins. Also, web-based assingnement will be given at the beginning of the course.

Textual and visual material or visiting lecturers in other than Finnish language are possible.

Students are able to describe international discussion on social work and apply an international perspective to the development of social services.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students are able to analytically and critically describe international discussion on social work and analytically apply an international perspective to the development of social services.
