Objective

Students
- can explain the operational principles of the Finnish health, social and rehabilitation services and the relevant legislation, programmes and future challenges
- are aware of the rights of patients and responsibilities of professionals as regulated by data protection and confidentiality legislation
- are able to present factors that affect the health and functional capacity of the population in Finland and explain how they influence the planning and provision of health, rehabilitation and physiotherapy services
- can explain how rehabilitation services have evolved and how they are governed by laws in Finland
- are familiar with the overall system of providing rehabilitation services and can counsel their patients/clients on the use of rehabilitation services
- can describe the historical development of physiotherapy practice and education
- can explain basic concepts in rehabilitation and the physiotherapist's role in multiprofessional teams
- counsel and safely assist patients/clients with activities of daily living.

- can partly explain the legislation that regulates the provision of health, social and rehabiliation services in Finland, seeing it as an integral part of society's function
- can list factors that affect people's health and function in various areas of rehabilitation
- are able to some extent give a physiotherapist's job description and describe the physiotherapy process
- under supervision, they know how to safely counsel and assist patients/clients with daily activities, paying attention to clients' resources

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students
- can explain and give examples of the legislation that regulates the provision of health, social and rehabiliation services in Finland, seeing it as an integral part of society's function
- can explain factors that affect people's health and function in various areas of rehabilitation
- are able to give a physiotherapist's job description and describe the physiotherapy process
- students can define the concept "evidence-based physiotherapy"
- know how to safely counsel and assist patients/clients with daily activities, paying attention to clients' resources.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students
- give examples of the legislation that regulates the provision of health, social and rehabilitation services in Finland, seeing it as an integral part of society's function
- can extensively explain factors that affect people's health and function in various areas of rehabilitation
- are able to describe the wide range of expertise in physiotherapy and the physiotherapy process with help of case studies
- students can define the concept "evidence-based physiotherapy" and provide examples of its importance for physiotherapy practice
- know how to safely counsel and assist patients/clients with daily activities, paying attention to clients' resources and to justifying their actions
