Objective

The student is able to
- apply a predictive method as part of the anticipation of demand for products and services
- assess the role of scenario thinking as part of their professional expertise
- assess and present arguments as to if different visions and goals are realistic in strategic planning and management

Content

- the key concepts of future thinking and anticipation
- search, analysis and interpretation of anticipatory knowledge; sources of existing anticipatory knowledge
- becoming familiar with different methods of futurological research (e.g. the scenario and the Delphi methods)
- megatrends and tacit knowledge as a framework for anticipation

Recommended literature will be announced during the course. Course materials provided in Moodle

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Fair (2 to 1): The student has applied a predictive method and justified, applying in part the right concepts, their assessment of how realistic the strategic goals are. The student assesses their own knowledge of predictive methods. The student has participated in the course assignments as instructed.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (4 to 3): The student has professionally applied a predictive method and justified, professionally and using the right concepts, their assessment of how realistic the strategic goals are. The student assesses their own knowledge of predictive methods with arguments. The student has participated in the course assignments actively.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): The student has applied a predictive method in a considerate, creative and professional way and justified, professionally and using the right concepts excellently, their assessment of how realistic the strategic goals are. The student assesses their own knowledge of predictive methods with arguments and critically. The student has participated in the course assignments actively and constructively.
